Without the
Food Banks, the Venison Donation Program would have a difficult
time getting the ground venison to those in need. The food
banks pick up the ground venison from the participating processors
and distribute it through its member agencies (soup kitchens,
food pantries, churches, senior living, etc.) to those in

RC&D Councils
Our Mission: The purpose of the Resource Conservation
and Development Council, Inc. is to fully utilize the human
and natural resources of the region in order to enhance the
economic, social, and environmental conditions for the people
of our counties. |
The
New York Federation of Resource Conservation and Development
Councils provide the accounting arm to the Venison Donation
Coalition. They track the funds raised for the Venison Donation
program and pay the processors for their work.

York State's Dept. of Environmental Conservation's Bureau
of Wildlife staff members in all nine regions are familiar
with Deer Processing facilities, where biological checks are
conducted annually. They act as the mechanics in locating
processors to participate and coordinating their efforts.
The DEC also provided financial aid that matches every incoming
donation or grant.
